Teacher’s Training Course

Universidad del Tepeyac, through its Language Center, offers you the opportunity to be part of the Teacher’s Training Course, a course aimed at people who wish to iniciate a carrer as EFL teachers as well as  those currently teaching who want to improve their performance as English teachers.

Aims
The course enables candidates to:

• Get acquainted with the suggestions and recommendations of the Common European Framework for Languages with regards to the learning, teaching and assessment of  English competence.
• Acquire subject knowledge and familiarity with the most updated methodologies, techniques and approaches to English teaching.
• Develop a variety of practical skills to teach English to learners with different levels of competence and a wide range of ages.
• Demonstrate their ability to cope with daily situations and problems faced by all teachers.
• Acquire the theoretical framework and develop the practical skills needed to access to other certifications such as TKT Exams (Cambridge University) and TSU(SEP).
Syllabus Overview
The course consists of 350 hours divided in the following modules that deal with specific topic areas in the teaching of English:
• Module 1: Grammar Analysis                                               60 hours
• Module 2: Phonology                                                        60 hours
• Module 3: Methodology I                                                  40 hours
• Module 4: Psychology in the Classroom                                40 hours
• Module 5: Methodology II                                                 40 hours
• Module 6: The Four Skills                                                  40 hours
• Module 7: Class Management and Lesson Planning         ____40 hours
• Observation and Teaching Practice                                     30 hours

Award
Those who successfully complete the Teacher’s Training Course will be awarded with a deploma issued by Universidad del Tepeyac.

Entry Requirements

• Have a competence in written and spoken English of at least level B2 of the CEFR.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a High school (preparatory studies) certificate.
• Sit an admission exam and interview (free of charge).

Schedules
Weekdays:
Monday through Thursday fom 16.30 to 19.00
Opening date: Monday, August 23, 2010. *

Weekend:
Friday from 16.00 to 21.00 and Saturday from 9.00 to 14.00

Opening date: Friday, August 27, 2010. *

*Opening is subject to a minimum of 8 students per group.
